Benefits of Technology

There is a growing trend in education. Specifically, there is a trend toward "individualized education." This applies not only to those involved with Special Education (IEP's, etc.) but also among all students. Teachers realize that having generic rubrics and lectures for an entire classroom are no longer enough. Students learn differently.

Thus, one of the greatest benefits of technology in education, as also reiterated by Baron, is that of individualization - technology further allows a teacher to cater to his or her students' specific learning styles, needs, and interests. No longer a problem of "finding a book that might interest Johnny," a modern teacher can sit Johnny in front of Google, where he will be able to find maps of skateparks, diagrams of insect homes, and the secret cheat codes for his Nintendo Wii.Technology is amazing. It brings the "world" of knowledge to us. This world also allows for an infinite opportunity to learn and grow.

Teachers need to be familiar with, utilize, and embrace the inevitable conclusion that technology, when used properly, can only make us better teachers, as well as further help those who will help that very technology progress further.Even if it WAS invented by Al Gore, the internet is far from "inconvenient."
